The Republic of Zambia is currently facing severe water shortages and drought. Despite being the rainy season, the water levels in major dams have critically dropped, significantly limiting the capacity for hydroelectric power supply. As a result, planned power outages of 8 hours per day are being implemented nationwide, which is unprecedented for the rainy season.
Of further concern is the potential significant impact on crop growth and the looming threat of famine if rainfall continues to be insufficient in the future. A warning regarding this dire situation has been issued by the President of the Republic of Zambia.
We have received reports from Ms. Ohco, who has spent over 10 years in the area, stating that this crisis is the worst on record. In such circumstances, we must prepare for the impending famine. During this challenging period, we sincerely request your support and cooperation.
